Lagoon

In a dream
I see a lagoon,
a cave and dark water
reflecting the moon.

I hear her call
across the sea:
'Come find me here
and set me free'.

In a boat
I row to the cave,
my inner child,
my soul to save.

Big waves threaten
to topple me,
but I stay calm
upon the sea.

Unafraid, for I am
not alone,
I find my way through
an arch of stone.

Through the dark water
slowly I row,
bright fish surround me
and jelly fish glow.

In the light of the moon
tall trees surround,
waves splosh gently
with barely a sound.

Across the lagoon
I hear her calls
echoing off
the great stone walls:

'Here you have found me,
here we are free.
In this place we can breathe
and simply be.

No ground we will touch
for this place is pure.
All that live here
are safe and secure.'

I breathe in deep,
so glad to be home,
a place where my soul
can freely roam.

I hold her close.
'You're safe now', I say,
'safe to dream,
to rest and to play.'

We stay awhile and bask
in the glow
of the moon's reflection
and the jellyfish show.

But then I tell her,
'It is time to go.
For there is something
that I know:

This place is our home,
but we can't hide away.
We must go out
to the light of day.'

Her hands graze the water,
she lets out a cry,
then she takes a deep breath
and releases a sigh.

'Ok', she replies,
'but promise me this:
you'll remember where home is.'
And she blows a kiss.

I catch the kiss and we
gather our strength.
Jelly fish guide as
we row out the length.

The sunrise invites,
it shows us the way
through the stone arch
to face the new day.
